Community Resources

The Importance of Wellness for Young Athletes

At Ravenswood Juniors Soccer Club, we believe that healthy athletes thrive on and off the field. True development goes beyond skills and tactics—it includes access to nutrition, physical and mental health, emotional safety, and stability at home.

When children feel safe, supported, and well-nourished, they can focus, build confidence, and perform at their best. Peace in the home, regular meals, and trusted adult relationships are just as important as coaching sessions. That's why we aim to support the whole athlete.

Here are some key resources available to the community:

EPACANDO (East Palo Alto Community Alliance and Neighborhood Development Organization): Provides affordable housing assistance, homeownership programs, and tenant support.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula: Offers after-school programs, tutoring, and recreational activities for children and teens.

College Track: Provides academic support, college advising, and career preparation.

Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP): Distributes food, clothing, and household essentials to low-income families in the community.

JobTrain: A nonprofit organization offering vocational training, job placement assistance, and career development programs.

Live In Peace: A youth-focused nonprofit that provides mentorship, college and career guidance, and leadership development.

One East Palo Alto (OEPA):  A nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for East Palo Alto residents and advocating for change to enhance the social, physical, spiritual, educational, and economic well-being of the community.

Onyxx Village Connection:  A nonprofit that provides meals and support. Through compassionate outreach and community events, they aim to restore dignity and build connection among those in need.

Ravenswood Family Health Network: Provides comprehensive healthcare services, including medical, dental, and mental health care, regardless of insurance status.
